Literature Text

His smile is as bright as the sun
His eyes as blue as the ocean

As I say goodbye to him
I can't help but cry
My daddy is leaving
And I don't know why

He tells me he has to serve our country
And that he'll come back
To see us someday

But if that's true,
Then why is my mom crying?
Why haven't I seen him in a year?
Why did that strange man come in,
And say to me
That he's no longer here?

My mom brings me into her arms
And says everything will be okay
But I don't understand
How it could be okay

This must be a lie
Daddy, you can't be dead
Daddy you know if I could choose,
It would be me instead
Then maybe mom would be happy again
With you by her side I'm sure she would

So please, for her sake
Trade me places for a day?
Instead of an answer
I found a note
It was from my father
And this is what he had wrote

Em, I need you to know
That I love you so much
That I miss you every day
I know I probably won't live
Long enough to see you again
But please know that I'm watching you
From heaven
Take care of your mother
I know you'll do well
Please be safe for me
And promise me
You'll stay alive
I love you

Dad. I don't know
How I'm going to live
Without you
But I'll try my best
Because I know
You're watching
And that no matter
How far apart we may be
I will always love you
And you will always love me
yet another poem i made..... when i started it i was going to make it happy... but my imagination desided otherwize.... i hope you guys like it

Oh, this is such a poignant poem. I really like your take on this idea. It's very moving.
